This upper suspension ball joint for your Type 181 front axle is located in the hinge where the steering shaft descends. After years of driving - play in the joint increases - leading to noticeable looseness in the steering and less stable handling of the vehicle. Replace this ball joint on both sides simultaneously for a true steering feel. Order two pieces at once and combine with the lower suspension ball joint (181 407 365) for complete suspension maintenance.
